2019 #19: Amami San Sushi 🍣🍣🍣 ( FOOD REVIEW)

Location: 310 Linden Ave
South San Francisco, CA 94080

Appetizer: Grilled Whole Squid

We ordered two sets of 10 pieces of OMAKASE

" Omakase is the Japanese tradition of letting a chef choose your order. The word means "I will leave it to you." It's a fine tradition that gives the chef creative freedom and the customer memorable dining experience."

[ Sorry if we did not take a lot of pictures during our dinner due to the fact the place was crowded and we were sat at the sushi bar with other people. Also we so hungry by the time we sat down.]

If you are used to fasting phase turn round restaurants and this is the place for you. The service was your typical "Are you ready to order?" as soon as you sat down on your chair. So if you are into a nice sushi restaurant and looking forward to a good service experience then you might want to reconsider and find another sushi restaurant.

Our server asks us right away if we wanted to order the Omakase set which we did not mind at all because we knew to make the nigiri rolls will take a while to make. Then we took some time looking at the menu and decided to get two more appetizer and one special sushi rolls. However, it took them a while to get our orders because they were attended to other customers at that time. We needed to get their attention basically for them to take our orders since they already forgot us about us. Usually, I do not mind waiting for the server to take our orders but that night we were so really hungry and the way the server interacts with us was not really pleasant.

The price of the Omakase set that we had was a very reasonable price. We have been to a lot of sushi restaurants before, and they usually double the price of that kind of Omakase set. The best part is the portion size! The sushi chefs gave us really a generous portion of our Omakase set which was delicious to eat.

The restaurant was recently remodeled and the decoration of it was a little bit in the modern feel-like Japanese Sushi House, but still, need some improvement here and there with the set up of the tables and the entryway as well.

In my opinion, the location of the restaurant is like a hidden gem in the small town. It is a small restaurant and it can be really crowded inside when it is a full house. There can be a wait for a table, so be patient!

Overall, I rated it 3.75 stars because the food was great and I will definitely recommend it to people to try it but I will always warn people about the service and how really tiny is the restaurant compare it to other Sushi Restaurant.

Hubby bear and I agreed that our favorite sushi and dish of them all :
👍Salmon Fatty Nigiri Sushi and the grilled squid👍

and our least favorite dish of them all :
👎TUNA Nigiri Sushi 👎
It was part of the Omakase set and the dab of the wasabi in between the Tuna and the rice was too overpowering that we cannot taste from the Umami of the Tuna.

Well, that's all for now...

I have two places that I have been meaning to try for the first time; one is a popular dessert place and a new Filipino restaurant my boss suggested me to try.

Until next time,
