2025 #21: The Essence of Joy 7 🌱 | I am a salmon sashimi lover 🍣

✨My Love Story for Salmon Sashimi 🍣

If there’s one thing that has remained constant in my ever-evolving world, it’s my unwavering love for salmon. It’s not just a food; it’s a little piece of joy that brings flavor and meaning to my life. The star of this story? Japanese-style salmon sashimi. A dish so simple yet elegant, so fresh yet comforting, it holds a special place in my heart—and as it turns out, in my love life too.

I can’t pinpoint the exact moment I fell for salmon. Maybe it crept into my heart when I wasn’t paying attention, one delicate slice at a time. What I do know is that it’s no coincidence my love for salmon grew alongside my love for Japanese cuisine. The artistry, the balance, the care that goes into Japanese dishes—salmon fits perfectly into that narrative, with its rich flavor and velvety texture stealing the show.

But salmon isn’t just a culinary delight to me; it’s also a chapter in my love story. You see, there was a time when salmon worked a bit of magic beyond my plate. My then-boyfriend, now husband, was a sous sushi chef.

From the very beginning, he impressed me not only with his humor and kindness but also with his extraordinary skills with salmon. He would whip up the most divine salmon sushi rolls and create perfectly marinated salmon sashimi and nigiri. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, and it became clear to me that salmon wasn’t the only one stealing my heart.

To this day, my husband knows that salmon is a love language all its own in our household. Whether it’s an impromptu sashimi night or experimenting with new salmon recipes, it’s a shared passion that brings us closer together. In a way, salmon became more than just food—it became a symbol of connection, of beginnings, and of memories made around the dinner table.

Every bite of salmon reminds me of where I started, the journey it’s taken me on, and the love that it’s been intertwined with. It’s not just about the taste; it’s about the way it brings people and moments together. Salmon, with all its richness, will always be something special to me—a dish, a memory, and a story all rolled into one.
