2025 #27: Short Greetings before we catch our flight to ✈️...

Las Vegas, Nevada, again. ✈️

Trip number three this year is taking us to the electrifying city of Las Vegas—and this time, it’s just the two of us, no toddler in tow! We’re gearing up for an epic, once-in-a-lifetime concert experience with my sister-in-law and her husband. It’s all part of a surprise birthday celebration, courtesy of my husband’s awesome gift to his sister. Think dazzling lights, unforgettable music, and a well-earned adults-only getaway. Vegas, here we come!

While we waited to board, I snapped a few photos—just my husband and me, enjoying a rare moment alone together. It’s been quite some time since we’ve traveled without our little one glued to our side. There’s a quiet surrealness in this solitude; for the first time, I’m beginning to grasp what “empty nesting” might feel like. And even though we’re only apart from our toddler for a couple of days, I can already picture the ache I’ll feel when he's older, packing for college and stepping into his own world.

For now, I’m soaking in this in-between season—brief independence wrapped in tender nostalgia. I’ve got my trusty Hokas on for this trip, knowing I’ll be spending lots of time on my feet. These shoes have become my go-to lately: reliable, cushioned, and perfect for the kind of wandering that feeds both body and soul.

One of the first things we’re doing once we land in Las Vegas is heading straight to a two-hour day spa—an oasis we’ve visited before and couldn’t wait to return to. As soon as we booked this trip, we knew we wanted to kick it off with that same luxurious experience: deep tissue massages, calming aromas, and total relaxation that melts every ounce of stress away.

It’s more than just pampering—it’s a purposeful pause. As parents to a toddler, our daily lives are wonderfully full but undeniably exhausting. The spa visit marks a rare moment to slip out of the caregiver role and just be—to reconnect as partners, unwind without interruptions, and soak in the kind of peace we often put on hold. It’s our gentle reminder that we deserve to recharge, too, and what better place than Las Vegas to begin this guilt-free escape.
