2025 #28: Short Greetings before we catch our flight to ✈️

Off to Shanghai for a Wedding Celebration

Flight number four this year—and this time, it’s just my husband and me, no toddler in tow again. We’re trading in our usual chaos for a quick but meaningful getaway as we jet off to Shanghai to attend a wedding dinner ceremony as special guests.

This will be my husband's first international plane ride with me—cue the rookie traveler energy! He’s never been to Asia, and I have to admit, I’m a bit nervous. Neither of us has been to Shanghai before, and he’s yet to experience the unique joy that is a long-haul flight... emphasis on long.

He still thinks air travel means a couple of movies, a snack, and landing before the peanuts settle. Meanwhile, I’m mentally preparing him for the reality that international flights require the stamina of a marathoner, the patience of a saint, and an appreciation for awkward neck pillows. What he doesn’t know yet is that flying across continents can feel three times more draining than any domestic hop—but hey, he’s about to find out.

At least we’ll be jetlagged together, right?

The journey itself is long, crossing continents and time zones, yet our time on the ground is brief—just two days in this dynamic city before heading right back to the Bay Area. But sometimes, the joy of travel isn’t in how long you stay, but in the intention behind the trip. And this one is filled with celebration, love, and showing up for people who matter.

With passports in hand and suitcases packed light, we’re embracing the rush, the elegance, the red lantern glow of Shanghai nights—and hopefully sneaking in a few bites of dim sum and city lights between wedding toasts and happy tears. It’s quick, it’s bold, and it’s absolutely unforgettable.
