Walking into Mikiya, you immediately feel the ambiance: clean, modern aesthetics with touches of Japanese charm that set the tone for a sophisticated meal. The restaurant is known for offering both à la carte and omakase-style dining, where you can either handpick your favorites or entrust the chef with a curated, multi-course experience. We opted for the latter—and it was a decision we didn’t regret.
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ of 5 stars
The star of our evening? Our server. Attentive, knowledgeable, and exuding warmth, they guided us through each course with thoughtful explanations and genuine enthusiasm. It elevated our night tremendously—there’s nothing like having someone who genuinely cares about your experience walking you through it. From sake pairings to spontaneous dish recommendations, they hit the mark every time.
Food Quality: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ of 5 stars
And then there was the food.
Each course came out with impeccable presentation and distinct flavors—from buttery seared wagyu to delicate cuts of sashimi that melted on the tongue. The pacing was smooth, the transitions seamless, and every bite seemed to tell a story. There was clear artistry behind the dishes, and we could feel the pride that went into the menu. We left the table with contented stomachs and a few new favorite flavor memories.

If you find yourself at Mikiya, don’t skip out on the Sweet Shrimp Sashimi—its pristine texture and subtle sweetness were truly standout. Also unforgettable was the Wagyu Nigiri, a luxurious bite of seared perfection that nearly melted the moment it hit the tongue. These two dishes alone made the visit worth it.
As for the meat selections, I highly recommend trying the Japanese A5 Wagyu Chuck Ribeye, Wagyu Brisket, and the Australian Wagyu Shoulder Cut. Each one offered an indulgent, melt-in-your-mouth experience with rich marbling and depth of flavor that made them an absolute highlight of the night. Whether grilled or torched to perfection, they embodied the mastery behind Mikiya’s premium cuts.
To elevate the hot pot experience, choose the Sukiyaki Broth and Spicy Miso Broth. The Sukiyaki broth, paired with a pasteurized egg for dipping, adds an authentically Japanese touch that's both rich and comforting. The Spicy Miso brings bold, savory heat—perfect for adding depth to your meats and vegetables without overpowering the natural flavors
😢Least Favorite Dish & Pro Tips🥢
While the overall experience was memorable, there were a few missteps worth noting:
- The Seasonal Vegetable Platter and Seafood Platter were generous but a bit overwhelming during the first round. With so many ingredients brought out at once, it was difficult to enjoy or finish everything. Our second round went much more smoothly—we focused on what we truly enjoyed: tofu, napa cabbage, shrimp, snow crab, and scallops. If you go, request specific items from the start to better tailor the spread to your preferences and avoid unnecessary waste.
- As for the House Broth, I wouldn’t recommend it. It lacked depth and flavor compared to the richness of the meats and seafood it was paired with. For a hot pot-style experience, choosing a more robust or specialty broth might give the overall dish more character.
However, not everything reflected the harmony we'd hoped for.
While our service was top-notch, we couldn’t help but notice how some of the other servers interacted with guests nearby—rushed orders, sharp tones, and what felt like an air of indifference. It was jarring to witness, especially in contrast to the grace and professionalism our own server showed. Though it didn't directly affect our table, seeing others receive subpar treatment did take a bit of the sparkle out of the experience. It’s one thing to be lucky with a great server, but it’s another to feel like consistent hospitality isn’t a shared standard across the team.
Mikiya Restaurant delivered exceptional food and a warm, standout experience thanks to our amazing server. The flavors, execution, and curated touches left us impressed and grateful. Still, witnessing inconsistent service elsewhere in the room left us wishing the same level of care extended across the board. In a place where everything else hits such a high note, it’s the human side of hospitality that can make or break a lasting impression.
Whether you’re a casual fan of shabu-shabu or a die-hard Wagyu lover, Mikiya offers a way to enhance your experience. The Chubby Club is perfect for regulars looking for savings, while the NFT Lifetime Membership is ideal for those who crave exclusivity, perks, and priority access.
Would we return? Likely, yes—especially for the cuisine and ambiance. But we'd hope for a more cohesive service experience all around next time. Because when all the elements align, Mikiya has the potential to be not just good, but truly unforgettable.
